What are Styles? Photoshop Layer Styles are simply a combination of Photoshop layer effects that are pre-made so all you have to do is open the Styles palette and just click on a style (with your layer highlighted in the layers palette) to see how a style will look. These are great because you get instant effects and razzmatazz so you can find what you're looking for fast (with a lot of styles). You'll also want to try out the same style on different layers. I've noticed differences and found seemingly boring styles to be more exciting on the right type of layer (primarily because of the width of the layer or thickness of letters which will apply differently).

Make sure to put the .asl file into your Photoshop presets folder and then you can load them in from the brushes palette flyout menu or the preset manager.
